We "enlisted" at the castle, and found out
all about life in the old days. We women were told that we were
"baggage," and once we joined up we could not leave. We
were not paid, and we worked hard all day. We had to mind all of
the children, and if any child misbehaved, the nearest woman was
beaten. Women always had soldiers around them, not to protect them,
but to keep them from escaping.
Nice, eh?
