We walked all the way up the Champs d'Elyse to the Arch d'Triomphe, and we were tired. Betty and I were also sick, and we all stopped in a little pharmacy to try to get some medicine. The pharmacists didn't speak english, so we had an interesting time communicating that we had coughs, painful chests, congestion and runny noses and headaches and sore throats and all that.

They don't have multi-symptom medications, so we had to buy separate medicine for each symptom. That was a pain in the butt.

Oh, but it was WAY better than the medicine I got later in Inverness - That stuff was like tar mixed with molasses. I thought it was going to poison me. I later read the instructions, which said to dilute in a glass of warm water. Like I had that at hand while I was walking down the road coughing and hacking. I've never tasted anything so horrible in my entire life. It had chili oil in it. That provides a "nice" burn that lasts for like an hour after you swallow the stuff. It really does the job at taking your mind off of your cold.
